An anniversary gift for the person who already has everything

Every long marriage reaches the same problem. The kitchen is full. The shelves are full. The wardrobe has a section neither of you talks about. And yet the date comes round again and something has to be given.

The mistake is treating it as a shopping problem. It is not. The reason a tenth-anniversary gift is hard is that the obvious categories — objects, experiences, jewellery — have all been used already, and none of them says anything the other person does not already know.

What actually lands

1. Something that names a specific moment, not the relationship in general. "Ten years" is an abstraction. The minute you signed the lease on the first flat is not.
2. Something that cannot be bought again next year. Repeatability kills meaning.
3. Something that survives a house move. Flowers do not. Restaurant bookings do not.

The one thing nobody owns

A minute. Not the time itself — nobody sells that, and anyone who says otherwise is lying to you. What you can own is the record of it: one UTC minute in a public registry, listed under your two names, with a photograph, a message, and a permanent page of its own.

There is exactly one owner per minute, enforced by the database, not by a promise. The minute you got married has never been claimed by anyone. Neither has the minute your first child was born, or the minute the offer on the house was accepted.

It is not a certificate printed on demand. It is a single entry that cannot be issued twice.
